Colin “Solo” Earnest has never been afraid to speak his mind, as he popularly did in a game versus ex-Echo Fox top-laner KFO. In a recent interview with popular eSports personalities Thorin and MoneCristo, Solo revealed issues while on Echo Fox. Solo played for Echo Fox in the LCS in both the Spring and Summer splits last year.
“I was definitely told on Echo Fox that they didn’t care about winning as long as people had a good time,” Solo said. This didn’t sit right with the top-laner, as Solo was the usually the best performing player on a struggling team. Echo Fox struggled in 2019, finishing sixth in the Spring Split, but finishing last in Summer. Echo Fox also struggled with internal struggles between owner Rick Fox and an investor over racial remarks. Echo Fox eventually was forced to sell their spot in the LCS, eventually having it sold to Evil Geniuses for $41 million.
In an example, Solo said that the team would often blame a load of the issues the team was dealing with on him, as he was the most vocal member on the team. He admitted he could’ve handled the situation better, as clashes would often happen between teammates, creating a bad wrap for Solo among the professional community.
Solo has been able to bounce back though. He was picked up in March by FlyQuest as a coach. After impressing, he was plugged in to play for the struggling V1per. Solo, once again, quickly became one of the most stable top-laners in the LCS, as FlyQuest would go on to drop V1per from their roster and make Solo their full time starter in the top lane.
You can catch Solo on the rift when FlyQuest takes on CLG on Friday, June 26 at 6pm PST / 9pm EST on twitch.tv/lcs.
