Markus “Kjaerbye” Kjaerbye will exit the free agent pool in CS:GO and join FaZe after spending nearly a month in limbo.
The Danish player decided to not return to North, an organization he competed with for two years. The 22-year-old will join FaZe as the team begins competition in the ESL One Cologne Europe tournament, beginning August 18 and running through Aug. 30.
Kjaerybye joining will make way for the departure of Aurimas “Bymas” Pipiras. Bymas originally joined the squad as a temporary stand-in/trial for Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer, who decided to take a break from the game. Bymas joined the team at the end of May, and the young Lithuanian player got to see a lot of top level competition throughout his time on FaZe. The roster, with Bymas, finished with a third placed finish at both the DreamHack Masters Spring and BLAST Premier Spring Finals.
Filling the shoes of a legendary player like Swedish CS:GO legend olofmeister was never going to be easy, as the 16-year-old leaves FaZe with a .95 rating through the last three months according to HLTV.
Their last big appearance before the off-season at cs_summit 6 was a major disappointment for the European lineup. The team was eliminated early by the hands of German roster BIG. FaZe didn’t make it out of the group stage.
FaZe will now field this roster going forward with Kjaerbye’s addition:
Håvard “rain” Nygaard
Nikola “NiKo” Kovač
Marcelo “coldzera” David
Helvjis “broky” Saukants
